Island Bound: Film Screening and Listening Party

  • Community Arts Stabilization Trust 447 Minna Street San Francisco, California, 94103 United States (map)

Join us for the world premiere of ISLAND BOUND, a short film by Sami See featuring a live musical performance of the film score by Pinay Voltron.

Catch a vibe and relax into an experimental sound and visual experience that explores fantasy and relational resilience through the female body and island landscape.

ISLAND BOUND documents queer-femme filipina performing artists Paula Bianca, Sami See, Mistress Joyen as a Sirena [mermaid], Diwata [fairy] and Lilim [spider], weaving movement disciplines of aerial hammock, underwater dance, rope flow, and roller skating to embody and story a singular question: when a flood meets your island, how will you move?

The original film score produced by Pinay Voltron will be performed live in the theatre. The hybrid atmospheric sound bath will journey you through a 1:1 percussive meditation, jungle vibes, and orchestral strings building on the film & visuals.

The premiere includes a special performance by Spain-based performance artist Mistress Joyen & more.

This event is part of the San Francisco API Cultural Center's annual United States of Asian America Festival: Common Ground.
